Tournament
Check in
Choose your event
More than one event is running today. Which are you checking in for?
MatchPlay
What is MatchPlay?
MatchPlay is the tournament app TAPP uses to run rounds and group pairings in real time.
Open the links to follow along with your tournament progress, see your current pairing, check round results, and keep track of standings as they update.
Each stage link goes to the relevant part of that tournament flow, so you can quickly jump to the right page during the night.
How Your Entry Fee is Utilised
Administrative Overheads and Capital Expenses
This includes expenses like domain name registration, advertising, and other necessary costs that help keep TAPP running efficiently and effectively.
Development
Goes towards developing logos, branding, swag, signage, and giveaways.
Prizes
Contributes to the prizes awarded both tonight and at future events. Note: The entry fee is not added to a prize pool; prizes are predetermined and not dependent on the number of entries.
Venue Costs
A portion may go towards covering the costs of using our awesome venue, ensuring we have a great space to play and compete.
The Tasmanian Association of Pinball Players (TAPP) is committed to fostering a friendly, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for all members, participants, and spectators. This Code of Conduct outlines our community's expectations for behaviour during TAPP events, ensuring respect, safety, and fairness for everyone involved. By participating, you agree to adhere to this Code.
Core Principles
Respect
Treat everyone with courtesy and kindness
Inclusivity
Welcome players of all backgrounds and abilities
Safety
Maintain a secure and supportive environment
Sportsmanship

TAPP reserves the right to update this Code as necessary to meet the needs of the community.
1. Respectful Behaviour: The Foundation of Our Community
- Treat all participants, volunteers, event hosts, and spectators with respect and courtesy.
- Avoid behaviours that could be considered disruptive, harassing, or discriminatory, including:
- Offensive language, gestures, or slurs.
- Physical intimidation, unwanted physical contact, or threatening behaviour.
- Disrespectful commentary on someone's skill level, appearance, background, or other personal attributes.
- Inappropriate jokes, including those based on stereotypes, gender, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other personal characteristic.
Note: Even comments intended as jokes can cause harm and are not acceptable.
- Respect others' personal space and boundaries at all times.
Zero Tolerance for Harassment: Any form of harassment, intimidation, or discrimination will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to verbal, physical, and written (including digital) forms of misconduct.
2. Respect for Venues, Machines, and Equipment
TAPP is grateful to our venue hosts. All participants must treat facilities, machines, and equipment with care and respect.
- Refrain from actions that could damage pinball machines or equipment, such as slamming buttons, striking machines, or causing intentional harm.
- Report any mechanical issues or malfunctions to the event host or organisers immediately.
- Do not attempt to repair or adjust machines unless authorised by event staff.
- Clean up after yourself and keep the venue tidy.
Venue-Specific Policies: Each venue has its own rules and restrictions, such as those related to age limits or food and drink. While TAPP welcomes players of all ages, participants must respect these venue-specific requirements and behave appropriately in shared spaces.
3. Inclusive and Accessible Environment
TAPP is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community where players of all skill levels, genders, ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds feel valued.
- Promote a welcoming atmosphere, especially for newcomers and those new to pinball.
- Avoid actions that create a hostile or unwelcoming environment.
- If you require accommodations to participate (e.g., mobility assistance), contact the organisers in advance so we can assist.
TAPP is dedicated to making our events accessible to all while complying with venue-specific restrictions.
4. Fair Play and Sportsmanship
- Follow the rules and guidelines provided by TAPP and event organisers.
- Compete with integrity. Actions such as deliberately throwing games, tampering with machines, or cheating undermine the competitive spirit and are not tolerated.
- Notify a tournament official immediately if you observe a malfunction, scoring error, or other issue.
- Avoid interfering with other players during their games.
- Celebrate the achievements of others and encourage camaraderie.
Commitment to Integrity: Players must respect the competitive spirit of the event and avoid unsportsmanlike conduct.
5. Alcohol and Substance Use
- Responsible alcohol consumption is permitted at events where the venue allows it.
- Intoxication leading to disruptive or unsafe behaviour will result in removal from the event.
- Illegal substances are strictly prohibited.
Safety First: Participants must ensure their actions do not compromise the safety and enjoyment of others.
6. Accountability: Organisers' Discretion and Consequences
TAPP holds all participants accountable for their actions and words.
- Consequences for violating this Code may include, but are not limited to:
- Verbal warnings.
- Removal from the event.
- Suspension from future events.
- Permanent bans from TAPP events for serious violations.
- Decisions regarding participant behaviour are at the discretion of TAPP organisers or event hosts and are made in the community's best interest.
- Appeals may be submitted in writing to TAPP organisers within seven days of an event.
Fairness and Transparency: To the best of TAPP's ability, all decisions will be based on evidence and context to ensure impartiality.
7. Reporting Issues
If you experience or witness behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it promptly.
- Reports can be made to a TAPP event organiser, host, or volunteer.
- Alternatively, concerns can be emailed to TAPP. Anonymous reports (e.g., from a disposable email) are welcomed.
- All reports will be handled confidentially to protect all parties and ensure a fair resolution.
No Retaliation: Retaliation against anyone who raises a concern will not be tolerated.
8. Community Spirit
TAPP thrives on sportsmanship, camaraderie, and enthusiasm for pinball. We encourage participants to:
- Mentor newcomers to the pinball scene.
- Volunteer at events to support the community.
- Share knowledge about pinball strategy, techniques, and history.
- Celebrate each other's achievements and contribute to a positive atmosphere.
9. Application to Online Behaviour
This Code applies to both in-person and online interactions, including social media, forums, and virtual events hosted by TAPP. Respectful communication and inclusivity extend to all digital platforms.
10. Periodic Review and Updates
This Code of Conduct will be reviewed regularly to ensure it continues to meet the evolving needs of our community. Updates may be made as required.
Participant Agreement
By participating in TAPP events, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Thank you for contributing to a welcoming, respectful, and fun pinball community.
Participation also involves acceptance of our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, which cover result publication, check-in consent, and how we handle your data.
Questions or Feedback
If you have any questions about this Code or suggestions for improvement, please contact TAPP organisers. We welcome your feedback!
Privacy Policy
The Tasmanian Association of Pinball Players (TAPP) is a volunteer-run community organisation. This policy describes what information is collected when you use this website or attend our events, and how it is handled.
Tournament Results and Leaderboards
- Published results: Tournament results โ including player names and finishing positions โ are published on this website, on IFPA, and on matchplay.events. This is standard practice for IFPA-endorsed competitive pinball.
- Leaderboard data: Our leaderboards are powered by data from IFPA's public rankings API โ player names, ranking statistics, and profile photos. We cache a local copy in our database to serve the leaderboard pages.
- Third-party policies: See the IFPA Privacy Policy and matchplay.events Privacy Policy for how those platforms handle your data.
- Removal requests: If you do not want your name in our results, contact us. Note that results already submitted to IFPA must also be addressed directly with IFPA.
Event Check-In
When you check in to a TAPP event using the online check-in form, we record:
- The name you enter
- Whether you declared yourself a first-time player
- Whether you declared payment via our honesty money-box system
- A record that you accepted these terms at the time of check-in (consent version and timestamp)
We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, or payment details through the check-in form. Check-in records are stored in our database (Cloudflare D1) and are only accessible to TAPP administrators.
Photos and Media
- Photos and videos may be taken at TAPP events and published on this website or our social media channels.
- By attending our events, you acknowledge that you may appear in such media.
- If you prefer not to be photographed, please let a TAPP organiser know at the event or contact us. We cannot guarantee exclusion from crowd or background shots, but we will do our best to respect your request.
Player Directory
We maintain an internal player directory to help match check-in names to known players. This stores display names and, where known, IFPA player IDs. Entries are managed by TAPP administrators and are not publicly visible. If you want to review or remove your entry, contact us.
Hosting and Infrastructure
This website runs on Cloudflare Pages with Cloudflare Workers. Every request to the site passes through Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare logs standard server-side request data โ including IP addresses, request paths, and timing โ as part of its infrastructure service. We have Workers observability logging enabled, which records request-level invocation data. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for how they handle this data.
We also send server-side observability data to Grafana Cloud, operated by Grafana Labs, using the OpenTelemetry standard. This includes request traces, performance metrics, and error logs from the server โ such as request paths, response times, and status codes. IP addresses may be present in this data as part of the request context. This data is used to monitor and improve site reliability. See Grafana Labs' Privacy Policy.
Cookies and Local Storage
We do not set any cookies on public visitors browsing the site. Our analytics tool (Umami) is also cookie-free. However, we do use browser local storage in a couple of places:
- Check-in name โ when you check in to a TAPP event, your display name and matched player ID are saved in your browser's local storage so the form can pre-fill your name next time. This data never leaves your device and is only used to save you re-typing your name.
- Grafana Faro session ID โ our frontend monitoring tool (Grafana Faro) stores a random session identifier in local storage to link page-navigation events within a single visit. This is a technical identifier only โ it is not linked to your identity.
Cookies are only issued to TAPP administrators when they sign in to the admin panel. Admin session cookies include:
- Session cookie โ an HTTP-only authentication token, valid for 30 days, used to keep you signed in to the admin panel.
- Two-factor authentication cookie โ a short-lived cookie (10 minutes) used during the two-factor sign-in process.
- Trusted device cookie โ set when an admin chooses to trust a device for 7 days, to reduce repeated 2FA prompts.
Third-Party Embeds
Some pages on this site load content from third-party services. When you load or interact with these embeds, those services may collect your IP address and other browsing data according to their own privacy policies.
- YouTube โ YouTube videos may be embedded on various pages of this site, including event descriptions added by our admins. YouTube is operated by Google. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Maps โ venue and event pages include an optional map. The map only loads when you click to open it. It is served as a Google Maps embed. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- IFPA โ our leaderboard pages display player profile photos loaded directly from the IFPA website (ifpapinball.com). Loading these images may be visible to IFPA's servers. See IFPA's Privacy Policy.
- Umami Analytics โ we use Umami to collect anonymous page-view statistics (pages visited, referrer, country, device type, and browser). Umami does not use cookies and does not collect personal information. Analytics are not loaded for logged-in administrators. Data is processed by Umami Software Inc. See Umami's Privacy Policy.
- Grafana Faro โ we use Grafana Faro for frontend error tracking and performance monitoring. Faro runs in your browser and collects: JavaScript errors and exceptions, page navigation timing, Core Web Vitals (load performance metrics), and general browser and device information. Your IP address is used to determine your approximate country. Unlike Umami, Faro is active for all users including administrators โ administrators are identified by a role label, not any additional personal information. Data is sent to Grafana Cloud, operated by Grafana Labs. See Grafana Labs' Privacy Policy.
Admin Accounts
TAPP administrators sign in via email and password with two-factor authentication. Admin accounts store name, email address, and session data (including IP address and browser/device information used for authentication security). Admin accounts are held by TAPP organisers only โ there is no public registration.
Data Retention
We do not have a fixed retention schedule. Check-in records, player directory entries, and tournament results are retained indefinitely as part of our historical records. If you would like data we hold about you reviewed or deleted, contact us and we will handle it on a case-by-case basis. Note that results already submitted to IFPA are outside our control to delete.
