Delving into the Thrill of TAPP Pinball Competitions

Pinball Tournament Structures

At the Tasmanian Association of Pinball Players (TAPP), our tournaments are structured to maximize both excitement and fair competition. Each event typically consists of two main phases:

  • Qualifying Period: Players compete individually or in head-to-head match-ups to accumulate scores. This can involve aiming for high scores on machines or completing objectives in Pin-Golf style. The goal during this phase is to qualify for the finals.
  • Finals Period: The top qualifiers enter the finals, competing in a series of games to determine the final standings and positional results.

This structure ensures a comprehensive and engaging tournament experience, giving players various opportunities to showcase their skills.

Versatile and Engaging Formats

We embrace a variety of tournament formats, ranging from traditional high-score challenges to innovative head-to-head competitions. The format for each event is selected to enhance the experience and will be communicated clearly to players in advance and reiterated before the event begins.

Adherence to PAPA/IFPA Competition Rules

To ensure fairness and consistency in our tournaments, TAPP adheres to the “Professional & Amateur Pinball Association (PAPA) / International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA) Complete Competition Rules.” These comprehensive rules are designed to standardise pinball competition and cover various aspects, including game settings, player conduct, and machine malfunctions.

Code of Conduct and Respect

At TAPP, we are committed to creating a respectful and enjoyable environment for all participants. Our code of conduct emphasises:

  • Respect: Treat fellow players, volunteers, and staff with respect at all times.
  • Sportsmanship: Display good sportsmanship, whether you win or lose.
  • Inclusivity: We welcome players of all skill levels and backgrounds.
  • Safe Environment: Harassment, discrimination, or any form of inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.

We believe that a positive atmosphere is essential for the enjoyment of all involved and is crucial to the success of our events.

Tournament Management

Some of our events may utilise matchplay.events software for efficient management and score tracking. However, whether we use software or manual methods, our primary focus is on fair play and ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Participation Details

A small entry fee is typically required for our events, mainly to cover organisational costs. Occasionally, these fees may contribute to cash rewards or other prizes. However, prizes are not guaranteed at every event and can vary. Our main aim is to enjoy the game and the community, with prizes being a secondary but exciting aspect.
