Thursday night at Deep South Brewing Co. brought another strong TAPP turnout, with 27 players lining up for a full evening of Max Match Play. We were just one shy of matching our record weeknight crowd of 28, and it was great to see a few new faces jump in and get straight into the mix.
Massive thanks to Deep South Brewing Co. for hosting us, and to AMD for the prize support. Also a big shout-out to Bennet McComish for bringing along and helping set up Guardians of the Galaxy for the night - it added a great extra game to the lineup and was much appreciated.
On the competition side, Max Match Play kept everyone busy all night with steady head-to-head rounds and no finals, just cumulative results building across the evening. At the top of the standings, Patrick Hewitt had a standout performance, going undefeated and taking a clear first place with some very strong play across the board.
Behind him, Joshua Hesketh finished second, Solomon Smith took third, and Wes Keys rounded out the top four. The upper standings stayed tight for much of the night, with several games coming down to bonus points and a few late swings keeping things interesting right through to the end.
There were plenty of close matchups through the rest of the field as well, with new players settling in quickly and a few games going right down to the wire. The Max Match Play format kept things meaningful right through the night, with even mid-table results shifting positions as the rounds progressed.
To finish up, Jackie Berry took out the door prize, adding a nice end to the evening. Thanks to everyone who came along and made it another great night of pinball - hope to see you all at the next one!
